Yoga is the process of encountering mysteries in ourselves, and delighting when we find new understanding.
This workshop is dedicated toward a part of our body that is a mystery for most – the back of our pelvis, the sacroiliac joint (often referred to as the SIJ or SI Joint).
Instability and inflammation in this key joint can cause pain and discomfort for both your yoga practice, and more importantly your life. At the same time, the SIJ is a keystone place in your body which allows for movement, dance, and play.
In this workshop Autumn will guide you through gentle yoga movement self-assessment and postures to make you feel right at home in your body. She will address the role of the muscles and joints of the pelvis in core stability through breathing and movement.
This workshop is for you if:
- You are confused or have difficulty aligning your hips and pelvis in warrior poses.
- You would like to understand the application of “hip openers” to your hips and SIJ.
- You are working with low back, hip or SIJ issues.
- You are a yoga teacher who wants to help students modify for SIJ instability or low back stiffness.
Shine light on your SI Joint with Autumn’s years of anatomy study and light-hearted approach to working with pain.
This workshop counts as 2 Continuing Education Credits for Registered Yoga Teachers.
