In this Posture Clinic, we will focus on Eka Pada Rajakapotasana (Pigeon Pose). Often used as a break or a pause between other shapes, yet this posture has so much to offer and inform in multiple directions: backbends, forward folds, hip openers. It can be a powerful bridge in balancing the lower and upper body and can provide heaps of information in both directions.
In this Pigeon-focused posture clinic we will take the shape apart and then put it back together. We will see where it comes from and where it is going next. And along the way we will explore our own royal, and expansive heart.
ALL LEVELS. There is never a time when returning to the basics is a bad idea.
This class is an opportunity for us to take an in depth look at a specific pose that we see frequently in classes. We will break down all of the component pieces of the posture and even look at ways that we can better prepare ourselves for the form. The goal will be for each person to walk away from the class with a better idea of how to work within your own pose, so that the next time it is called in class, you know where you are and what you need to do. And if you like to get real nerdy about alignment, you will be in perfect company.
Meg Abene Newlin, who believes practice is everything and that proper alignment is the pathway.
