The first posture clinic of the season kicks off with paschimottanasana, full seated forward fold. Accessible and relevant for all levels of practitioners, this workshop will move through a variety of approaches to unlock the pose whether you are utilizing modifications or approaching the deeper form. We will also explore a handful of complimentary shapes and modifications to help us to gain greater access into this particular posture.
This workshop is perfect for the newer-to-yoga practitioner who wants to learn the nuts-and-bolts of forward fold and for the inner yoga geek who wants to dive into discussion including: anatomy, methodology, sequencing, strategy, symbolism, metaphor and anecdote.
This class is an opportunity for us to take an in depth look at a specific pose that we see frequently in classes. We will break down all of the component pieces of the posture and even look at ways that we can better prepare ourselves for the form. The goal will be for each person to walk away from the class with a better idea of how to work within your own pose, so that the next time it is called in class, you know where you are and what you need to do. And if you like to get real nerdy about alignment, you will be in perfect company.
Meg Abene Newlin, who believes practice is everything and that proper alignment is the pathway.
