Fight, Flight or Flourish Weekend with Alex

More than the practice of stretching and strengthening muscle, Yoga is an ancient practice of Transforming Stress into Thriving.

 

As you move towards a new year and a new time, begin to take control your nervous system like a switch, as you learn how to unlock it from stress mode (sympathetic nervous system) in favor restore mode (parasympathetic nervous system). Alex will provide a Straight Forward Approach to the deep end of the yoga pool with two workshops founded on the ingenious tools that he discovered during his 2-month yoga stay in Rural Cambodia. This restful, yet energetic experience is intended for you to gain personal insight to thrive in the year ahead, rather than succumb to the usual stress response for which we are conditioned.

 

Asana & Pranayama: Saturday, December 29th

Asana is the practice of daily poses and movement, which we often refer to as simply: Yoga. Pranayama, the technique of altering brainwave patterns through precise breath, is arguably the most important of the practices of yoga. This ancient system of breath-control utilizes what we understand today as the connection between the brain stem, cranial nerves, and circulatory system: respiratory sinus arrhythmia.

In this workshop you will experience 1 hour of yoga asana + 1 hour of breathwork designed to reveal a subtle aspect of life and nature that often cannot be experienced any other way. This workshop will help you unwind stress (fight-or-flight response) and guide you towards the ability to flourish in your higher brain when challenges arise.
 

Yoga Nidra: Sunday, December 30th

Yoga Nidra means “Yogic Sleep”. It is a simple, systematic, yet profound method of inducing complete physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. It is defined as “Conscious Sleep”, where you rest in the same brain state (Delta Brainwave) as Deep, non-REM sleep, yet are fully conscious of your surroundings.
This workshop begins with a yoga practice to prepare the body for Yoga Nidra, followed by deep rest for your body and primordial nervous system. This practice is designed as a full-system reset so that you may flourish in the new year and leave the old year behind.

Yoga Teachers:
