My life has come full circle since I began to practice yoga in 2006. As a child and teenager, I studied ballet, attending North Carolina School of the Arts. An injury and the realization I wanted more than dance in my life led me to leave ballet and become a high school English teacher. I taught in Milwaukee Public Schools for seven years.
Now, here I am again, back in the studio studying the body and how yoga mirrors life off the mat. I am 200RYT licensed and am working toward 500 hours with an emphasis in yoga therapy. I also have certifications from ACE group fitness, Booty Barre, TRX and Pilates mat and reformer apparatus. My journey back to the studio has encouraged me to go to school, studying to become a physical therapist assistant. I am finding the more I learn, the more there is to know.
I think most students find my classes physically challenging, mentally interesting and spiritually rewarding. I believe what we do on the mat only matters if it influences what we do off the mat.
Why teach at The Studio?
“The Studio is a beautiful place to teach, not because of the reclaimed wood floors or wonderful views, but because of the people who practice here. It is a wonderful community. I am very fortunate.”
